Assistant Nurse Manager - Emergency Department - Day/Evening

Responsibilities

• Assumes roles and responsibilities of the Nurse Manager or applicable “one up” position in the absence of the NM.
• Maintains adequate staffing levels and skill mix for all shifts through the development, preparation, and maintenance of staffing schedules.
• Adjusts and assigns staff based on patient care needs, staff availability, and patient safety.
• Ensures staff competency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Serves as a charge nurse if needed.
• Participates in the performance appraisal process and holds staff accountable for performance standards.
• Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse on unit needs.
• Monitors high-risk and complicated cases and implements appropriate actions.
• Anticipates and resolves patient/family concerns promptly.
• Protects patient confidentiality.
• Serves as a resource and mentor to charge nurses and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Diploma Program Required or Associates Degree Required or Bachelors Degree Nursing (BSN) or earned within 3 years of hire.
• Required Work Experience: 3 years Charge/leadership experience and Supervisory experience.
• Required Licenses: Registered Nurse upon hire, Multi State License upon hire, Basic Life Support upon hire.
• Preferred: Neonatal resuscitation training upon hire.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Fully competent Clinical Nurse III, excellent communication/interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem-solving, confrontational, and other leadership skills.
