Position Summary
The Aultman Assistant Nursing Manager (RN) is a professional nurse whose primary responsibility is to provide clinical leadership, support direct patient care, supervise staff, and assist the Clinical Unit Director address more complex questions or scenarios in relation to day-to-day operations. Assistant Nursing Managers provide input into the daily operations and implement operational decisions made by the Clinical Unit Director.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.
- Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements.
- Membership in professional nursing organization preferred.

- Respects patients’ rights and responsibilities, demonstrates respect for the patients’ culture, language, customs, and beliefs, demonstrates the use of age-specific principles in communicating and educating patients, and serves as a patient and family advocate.
- Assists in the coordination of nursing services with the services of other healthcare disciplines and monitors initiatives involving care coordination.

- Assists with the identification of key performance indicators and input for the development/implementation of strategies based on evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.
- Participates in the recruitment, selection, education, orientation, retention, evaluation, and professional development of colleagues.
- Responsible for assisting with staffing and scheduling of colleagues within their assigned cost center(s) and providing hands-on assistance or coverage as needed.
- Assists with meeting the budget for assigned cost center(s).
- Provides input for operational decisions to the Unit Director and implements those decisions.
- Commitment to continued personal and professional growth, including career planning.
- Facilitates participation of staff in organizational and unit-based decision-making councils and/or committees.
- Maintains continual regulatory readiness.
- Must adhere to the RN job description and competencies.
