Assistant Mens & Womens Diving Coach

Overview

Augustana College invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach – Men’s & Women’s Diving. This is a paid stipend position that is responsible for developing all aspects of the diving program in alignment with the mission and values of the institution, the NCAA Division III philosophy and the standards of the CCIW. The diving coach will work closely with the Head Swim & Dive Coach and is expected to contribute to a positive, competitive, and student-centered team culture.

Primary Duties

• Plan, organize, and conduct daily diving practices for student-athletes of all ability levels, from beginners to advanced competitors
• Provide technical instruction, skill progression, and individualized coaching to support athlete development and performance
• Prepare divers for dual meets, invitationals, and championship competition
• Aid in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes who are a strong fit academically and athletically for Augustana College
• Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, personal growth, and academic success
• Collaborate with the Head Coach on program planning, travel, and competition strategies
• Maintain effective communication at all times with the Head Coach regarding all aspects of the diving program
• Develop divers to a level where all team members are qualified to compete at the CCIW Conference Championships each season
• Contribute to the overall success, well-being, and competitiveness of the student-athletes in the men’s and women’s diving programs
• Adhere to and uphold all rules and regulations set forth by Augustana College, The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and The NCAA (Division III)
• Ensure all program activities, recruiting efforts, and athlete interactions remain fully compliant

Performance Expectations

• Develop divers to a level where all team members are qualified to compete at the CCIW Conference Championships each season
• Provides vital input on program-wide initiatives, working in direct consultation with the Head Coach for final authorization and implementation
• Show measurable athlete improvement in technical execution, scoring, and competitive consistency
• Contribute to the overall success, well-being, and competitiveness of the student-athletes in the men’s and women’s diving programs

Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of diving techniques, training progressions, and safety standards
• Ability to coach and mentor student-athletes across a wide range of skill levels
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy, emphasizing the balance of academics and athletics

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required with previous coaching and competitive diving experience

Additional Information

• Pay and Benefits: This position is paid as a monthly stipend
• Expected Hours of Work & Travel: This role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the dynamic nature of collegiate athletics, including evening practices, weekend competitions, and travel for both meets and talent recruitment
• Work Environment: Ability to maintain a high level of performance in a warm, humid natatorium environment, including the physical ability to manage deck-side equipment and oversee daily poolside logistics
