About the role
The Assistant Men’s & Women’s Wrestling Coach position at Eastern University is a full-time staff position, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. The position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the wrestling program, including recruiting, coaching, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions and competition strategies.
- Recruit and retain high-quality student-athletes who align with the mission of Eastern University.
- Provide instruction and skill development for student-athletes to enhance their performance.
- Maintain academic progress, student-athlete well-being, and compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA policies.
- Assist in scouting and video analysis to develop effective game plans.
- Collaborate with the strength coach to coordinate team travel, equipment, and other logistical operations.
- Foster a positive team culture emphasizing personal growth, character development, and sportsmanship.
- Support fundraising and community engagement initiatives to promote the program.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Previous successful experience as a wrestling coach at the college/professional levels is required.
- The ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented department environment are required.
- A commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics, a working knowledge of NCAA rules, and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes is essential.
- Candidates must exhibit an understanding of and support for the University’s Christian Mission.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and an ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Eastern University and the Athletic Department to alumni and friends of the university are required.
