Assistant Coach for Wrestling

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Head Coach: Assist with planning, organizing, and executing practices and games.
  • Player Development: Improve student-athletes' fundamental wrestling skills, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning.
  • Logistics & Supervision: Help with practice/game setup and breakdown, and directly supervise student-athletes during all team activities, ensuring safety and policy adherence.
  • Team Environment: Contribute to a positive, disciplined, and sportsmanlike team culture.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Head Coach, players, parents, and athletic staff.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all school, district, ECC, and CIAC rules and regulations.
  • Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model, promoting academic integrity, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with inventory, equipment management, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Off-Season Support: Support organized off-season training, conditioning, and summer league activities as directed by the Head Coach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CT Certification 600: Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
