About the Role

Under the guidance of Media Management, this position is responsible for providing detailed assistance in the development and execution of strategic and audience-driven paid media plans across all media and publishing platforms. The Assistant Media Strategist will interact with the media department, internal integrated team, clients, and media partners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in paid media plan development, ensuring plans deliver against the client KPI and overall audience channel strategy.
  • Help with all types of paid media, including digital, social, and traditional, gaining advanced knowledge in all areas.
  • Assist with monitoring both traditional and digital campaigns, helping to optimize where necessary to meet client KPIs.
  • Attend client meetings if needed, including supporting status agendas and follow-up correspondence.
  • Help with reviewing and evaluating media proposals submitted and in developing POVs as needed.
  • Assist with media negotiations and budget stewardship of plan/flowcharts from concept to final invoice reconciliation.
  • Secure and manage added value as part of plan negotiations to achieve client objectives, as well as providing appropriate recaps as needed.
  • Generate insertion orders for approved media plans.
  • Depending on client, assist with various media platforms such as Facebook/Instagram, ad platforms, and traditional media buying programs.
  • Update media flowcharts, budget & invoice reconciliations, and plans as necessary.
  • Assist in sending and tracking media authorizations and contracts, including proper documentation of all approvals, signed paperwork, and revised documents.
  • Help with development of creative grids with proper media specifications for account and creative teams.
  • Depending on client, contribute to reporting, optimization, and analysis/ROI of client plans.
  • Depending on client needs, help facilitate competitive market/media analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for both internal and client teams.
  • Report to and collaborate with Media Strategy Supervisor or as assigned as media support on client business.
  • Depending on the client assignment(s), role may specialize in broadcast, programmatic, or other specialized areas within the organization.
  • Understand and abide by the agency’s business practices, core values, philosophies, and branded process, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Depending on client, office location, or business needs, some travel may be required.
  • Obtain various certifications including The TradeDesk, Meta, and Google within the first year of employment and complete R&R’s internal training program within the first year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Internship or other experience in marketing field preferred.
  • Strong oral, written, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft programs.
  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented, organized, and can multi-task across assignments.
  • Establish and build positive and respectful relationships with internal teams, clients, and media partners.
  • Work to become educated on industry trends and market conditions, and look for opportunities within the marketplace, bringing forward proactive ideas and solutions that align with the client’s business goals.
  • Develop understanding of assigned client business verticals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate daily time sheets.
  • Maintain a business-appropriate appearance and demeanor with clients and in other professional environments.
  • Conscientious and self-motivated.
  • Willing to work overtime when necessary.
