About the role

The Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations at Applegreen USA's travel plazas. This position offers valuable learning experiences for aspiring managers, focusing on key areas like performance feedback, goal setting, team building, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver performance feedback and set goals
  • Foster teamwork and communicate business objectives
  • Supervise non-management associates, assign tasks, and focus on operational performance
  • Coach and develop shifts supervisors
  • Perform duties in the absence of the general manager
  • Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during low morale periods
  • Address issues promptly and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain awareness of brand standards and protocols to enhance relations with landlords and employees
  • Ensure the restaurant is clean, inviting, and adheres to brand guidelines
  • Manage cash accurately and report daily
  • Resolve customer issues and build positive relationships
  • Perform spot inventory counts and ensure inventory accuracy

Requirements

  • Passionate about helping others grow the business
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of motivating teams
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Two years of experience in quick-service restaurants or similar management roles
  • Basic food safety knowledge and practices
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
