Assistant Manager, Transportation Services

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility will be in our Driver Commercial Driver License training program and all facets of the program.
  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring seasonal employees.
  • Prepares schedules, monitors operations, processes reports.
  • Supervises the transportation services team and the unit’s activities.
  • Applies knowledge of transportation regulations and laws, Company product, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs “Manager on Duty” responsibilities.
  • Analyzes and prepares reports.
  • Responsible for the supervision, performance management, salary administration, discipline, and training of directly assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • This job normally requires an associate’s degree or equivalent job experience in a related field.
  • A current, valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record is required.
  • A Commercial Driver's License certification with passenger and airbrake endorsements is required.
  • (The opportunity to secure the license through the Company paid training program is available.)
  • You must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
  • You will be entered into our random drug testing program.
  • Experience supervising employees in a transportation services, customer service, logistical or business environment.
  • This job normally requires three years of progressively responsible positions in transportation services operations.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background report.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized reservations.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, to maintain an attention to detail, while working in a group or team environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
  • Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with employees and management.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to lift an excess 50 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
