What You Will Do

Performs duties as assigned, following the policy and procedures of Stanford Health Care and the Sterile Processing Department.

Must be familiar with operation of decontamination, cleaning and sterilization equipment, Departmental Standards of Operation, Policy and Procedures and Human Resources.

Aids in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services, ensuring they are compatible with the function and goals of SHC.

Aids in evaluating staffing requirements for the department, ensuring qualified, competent persons are available to provide services.

Supports the manager in hiring staff, merit pay increases, and promotions.

Mentors supervisory personnel to effectively coach, orient, and provide feedback to departmental personnel.

Engages in lean learning and coaching of frontline staff with the support of the manager and director.

Education

Associate’s degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Experience

One year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of needs, goals, deliverables and interdependencies of other functional organizations
  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Knowledge of Surgical Instrument Care, Cleaning, Handling, Wrapping and Sterilization
  • Knowledge of Instrument Assembly /Case Cart and Supply Processing
  • Knowledge of standard procedures and methods used to decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, store and distribute items and instrumentation within applicable Federal, State and other regulatory agencies
  • Ability to support resources (people, costs, and time) across multiple departments
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising as well as prepare clear, comprehensive written and oral reports and materials

Licenses and Certifications

  • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician
  • CSPDT - Sterile Process/Dist Tech

Base Pay Scale

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
