About the role
The Assistant Manager is responsible for the management of all day-to-day operations of the Material Operations department, in conjunction with the department Manager. Through staff and workflow management, the Assistant Manager ensures repair orders are issued parts both systematically and physically. They oversee repair estimate price and timing and the “direct from customer” repair process, provide management support, direction, and development for staff, ensure schedules are properly updated for adequate coverage, and assist with implementation and monitoring of new processes and projects.
Responsibilities
- Set goals that align with our luxury brand and meet customer expectations.
- Measure results through daily order reporting, production reporting, and quality monitoring.
- Identify obstacles/opportunities that hinder the daily success of the team.
- Hold the team and yourself accountable to consistently produce high-quality work.
- Implement and monitor process improvements.
- Foster a healthy and safe workplace through promoting internal Wellness and Safety programs.
- Provide leadership by setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable.
- Commit to hiring top talent that can grow one or two levels.
- Develop current talent by closing skill gaps to maximize staff potential through projects and stretch assignments.
- Effectively and appropriately manage employee performance.
- Collaborate with your Manager to coach and develop staff; effectively delegate work.
- Cross-train department staff and facility-wide to create a more flexible work environment.
- Plan and forecast for your department, considering historical trends.
- Understand your overall business to provide strategies for your department; partner with the financial and operations team as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with industry, corporate, and department regulations.
- Manage workflow to facilitate all functions, handling aged and past-due orders appropriately.
- Perform ROI analysis to understand the cost/benefit of actions.
- Provide contingency plans to attain financial goals amid constant business changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 years of business experience with a management background.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work without constant direction.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve areas of improvement.
- Excellent organizational abilities to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong academic and/or business background with English language usage, grammatical, and communication skills.
- Flexibility with schedule, assignments, and willingness to work overtime (possible weekends required during holiday season).
- High ability to collaborate, build strong business relations, and influence without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Tiffany & Co. computer applications (e.g., AS400, MIPS).
- Experience working in an operations, technical, or luxury retail environment.
- Familiarity with jewelry, watches, clocks, and silver products.
- Experience in direct customer interaction.
- Analytical experience.
