About the Role
Works closely with the Manager to ensure ongoing support is provided to individuals by fostering an environment that assists them in becoming active participants in every aspect of their lives, including self-care routines, health, safety, household chores, socialization, and overall well-being. Ensures a high quality of life is maintained for all individuals.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Manager with the supervision and training of Direct Support Professionals to ensure ongoing support and a high quality of life for individuals.
- Assists with the training of new employees to ensure the residence is adequately staffed with qualified personnel.
- Maintains weekly work schedules for all staff by assigning shifts based on availability and the specific needs of each resident to ensure appropriate care at all times.
- Maintains appropriate records of staff by observing and documenting issues related to time, attendance, performance, deficiencies, supervisory sessions, and training needs.
- Verifies that all required documentation of treatment plans is present and completed daily.
- Assists with the maintenance of residents' bank accounts and expenditures by managing deposits, withdrawals, and reviewing monthly bank statements for accuracy and budget adherence.
- Arranges transportation for residents to medical appointments, ensuring the availability of agency vehicles and ongoing communication.
- Confers with site RNs, physicians, and pharmacies to discuss the current medical status and healthcare needs of each resident.
- Collaborates with individuals’ day programs via telephone or scheduled meetings to ensure coordination of services and ongoing communication.
- Oversees the supervision of housekeeping and upkeep of the house/apartment by assigning responsibilities to staff (e.g., vacuuming, laundry, dusting, dishwashing, mopping floors) to ensure a sanitary and safe environment.
- Performs the responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License maintained throughout employment.
- One (1) year of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
- AMAP certification required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and administrative skills.
