Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical training equivalent required
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction or building maintenance required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and personal automobile insurance required
- Ability to operate a variety of hand-held tools and learn the use of others as required by assigned tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in completing a wide range of building repairs and maintenance functions in response to work orders submitted by SBCHC staff members
- Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently and building conditions do not deteriorate
- Assists with repairs to walls, roofs, woodwork, floors, cabinets, interior and exterior doors, and other fixtures
- Assists in repairing wiring and parts for electrical switches, outlets, light fixtures, breaker switches, and fuses
- Assists in repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures and fittings, including drains, faucets, sewer lines, toilets, sinks, and water heaters
- Assists with installation and maintenance of HVAC equipment
- Assists in repairing, adjusting, or installing various appliances and equipment, including water heaters, refrigerators, air conditioners, and furnaces
- Assists in repairing and replacing grout, bathroom tile, and seals to maintain water-tight enclosures
- Applies paint, enamel, varnish, lacquer, or other protective or decorative materials on a variety of surfaces
- Assists in building inspections and paints and repairs as needed
- Assists with renovations, build-outs, and expansions in a timely manner
- Completes appropriate work order documentation for all maintenance tasks and maintains files of completed work orders
- Performs periodic lawn service and other outdoor landscaping grounds service as needed
- Performs work order service during evenings and weekends on a scheduled or rotating basis, maintaining the ability to complete work orders in accordance with established procedures
- Instructs new employees and helpers in the method of maintenance and repair
- Maintains knowledge of SBCHC facilities and equipment and basic principles of building maintenance
- Maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, consultants, contractors, residents, HUD, community partners, and local, state, and federal officials
- Performs other related duties as assigned
