Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
About the role
Maintains a neat and orderly fashion for all catalogues, bulletins and technical information in the Maintenance Office, including drawings and blueprints, machine manuals, vendor catalogues and all other technical and non-technical information required to be in the Maintenance Department library.
Responsibilities
- May supervise a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians.
- Fills in for maintenance manager as needed to manage the entire facility maintenance department.
- Manages the maintenance budget for the facility including running and reviewing SAP reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of YTD expenditures.
- Utilizes systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures, including: mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability indices, maintenance breakdowns, etc.
- Manages the work order system and tracks work orders through completion.
- Compiles a report related to work order efficiency for the leadership team at the facility.
- Conducts a weekly maintenance priority meeting with the maintenance and production leadership team at the facility to review the open notifications and work order backlog.
- Plans and prioritizes projects for the next 7 days and garners leadership support of these activities.
- Schedules personnel (employees and contractors), maintains project budget, accesses machine manuals, ensures needed parts are in inventory, works with production team to schedule time and ensures work orders are in the system, updated and completed throughout the project.
- Schedules predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.
- Led some Environmental Health & Safety initiatives in the facility including: air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, waste water compliance, roof maintenance, Infared inspections, compressed air management, cooling tower/chiller, air handlers, fire & safety system, inspections, contractor training, employee training, electrical, hot work, etc.
- Manages and maintains a single, site-wide parts and tool inventory and coordinates and manages routine service contractors.
- Determines material needs for repairs, research options, obtain pricing, utilize the SAP system to create a requisition, and receive material in SAP upon receipt of invoices.
- Covers purchasing, inventory, and work order administration activities of the Maintenance Department.
- Inspects all maintenance materials and services upon delivery to the Maintenance Department.
- Aids in ensuring proper plant receiving procedures are followed.
- Tracks equipment repair, building repair, or project costs using the SAP system or other available methods and reports to management on a routine basis and as requested.
- In consultation with the respective manager, utilizes current site maintenance personnel to perform work before sourcing external contract services.
- This may be accomplished by using all maintenance resources from the site to address work anywhere across the site.
- Provides support in the areas of safety, maintenance, building security, housekeeping, grounds keeping, cost effectiveness, and promotes continuous improvement.
- Analyzes high maintenance cost centers and in consultation with the respective manager, implements solutions to reduce and improve the cost.
- Works with vendors to consolidate purchases where cost savings can be derived.
- Manages work to be contracted out by planning the tasks to be completed, developing a scope of work, and contacting contractors for quotations.
- After review and acceptance of a bid, utilizes the SAP system to create a requisition and will release service entries upon completion of work and receipt of invoices.
- Planner and aligns Routine Maintenance Tasks & Preventative Maintenance Events.
Requirements
Four years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant. College and/or related technical courses are preferred. High school diploma or GED. Four years’ experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics preferred. Mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity experience preferred. Demonstrated personnel supervisory skills. Action oriented SAP experience preferred.
