Assistant Maintenance Manager
About the role
Become a part of our Transdev team as an Assistant Maintenance Manager in El Centro, CA. This position assists in the supervision of the vehicle maintenance and repair of the fixed route, paratransit and support vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
- Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Manage equipment, parts and supplies inventories.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
- Input data into maintenance software database ensuring the accuracy and timeliness for reporting purposes.
- Aid in the procurement of parts and the management of parts inventory.
- Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with standards for professional and ethical conduct.
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance department.
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience dealing with heavy equipment, preferably experience with CNG transit buses.
- Experience working with Unions in the transportation industry.
- Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
- Experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
- Must demonstrate solid computer skills in standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software and use of web-based systems.
- Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
Skills
- Ability to effectively lead, work and communicate with employees and customers.
- Able to ensure repairs and maintenance are performed in a timely and efficient manner in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.

Pay
Competitive compensation package of minimum $70,304 annually – maximum $84,000 annually.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors.
- Utilize standard office equipment.
- Access filing system/cabinets.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
- Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools and equipment that require a high degree of manual dexterity.
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, speak, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell.
- Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic’s dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment.
- Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
