Safety Supervisor
First Student is the largest school transportation provider in North America, with more than a century of experience providing safe and reliable transportation. Key Responsibilities
- Support driver hiring and compliance processes, including background checks, drug and alcohol testing, DOT physicals, motor vehicle records, I-9 forms, and other required documentation
- Provide guidance to location trainers and assist with classroom, recertification, and retraining programs
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and work-related injuries, including reports, files, follow-up, and preventability reviews
- Prepare and maintain safety and compliance records
- Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings and participate in Safety Action Team meetings
- Support accident review committees and respond to driver appeals
- Provide safety-related support and training to drivers and attendants
- Coverd driver road checks and performance observations
- Review safety trends, prepare reports, and recommend improvements
- Complete additional duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of operations experience, including transportation operations experience
- Safety experience preferred
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Comfortable using operational technology, apps, shared drives, and smart devices
- Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work effectively with drivers, employees, customers, senior leaders, union officials, and the general public
- Fully fluent in English
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move throughout an office, company facility, and bus parking areas
- Must be able to use standard office equipment and access filing systems
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by phone
- Must be able to drive a company or personal vehicle for accident investigations, driver observations, and other company business
