About the role
A part-time Social Media Assistant position at the Woodbury School of Business, Utah Valley University. You’ll create videos, photos, and social media content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other platforms while collaborating with departments across the college to capture authentic stories. This is an excellent opportunity to build a professional portfolio and gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content strategy, analytics, and brand storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and publish social media content—posts, stories, reels, and short-form video—that aligns with the WSB content calendar and marketing goals.
- Coordinate with departments and programs across the college to gather updates, film/photograph events, and capture authentic stories of faculty, staff, and student experiences for social media promotion.
- Use Sprout Social to schedule content, monitor engagement, provide basic reporting, and track analytics.
- Monitor social media trends and recommend creative ways to keep content fresh and relevant.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Seeking or completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, marketing, or related subject matter, or 1+ years of experience in social media.
Skills
Knowledge
- Familiarity with major social media platforms, current trends, and analytics tools.
- Understanding of visual storytelling and audience engagement principles.
- Knowledge of brand guidelines and the ability to maintain consistent voice, tone, and visual identity (training provided).
- Awareness of university writing, accessibility, and content standards (training provided).
Abilities
- Ability to create content that aligns with established brand and university messaging standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and use Sprout Social (training provided).
- Ability to take direction, receive feedback, and adapt creative work accordingly.
Technical Skills
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Experience or interest in video editing, photography, and content creation.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe, CapCut, or similar creative tools is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and time management.
