General Description

Responsibilities

  • Takes leading responsibility for promotion of a welcoming, accepting, positive, restorative school culture where every student knows we care about them and miss them when they are not present.
  • Takes leading responsibility for promoting the school’s PBIS framework.
  • Implement BPS Code of Conduct; advise Deans on application of the Code of Conduct.
  • Provides coaching and leadership development support for classroom teachers, Deans, and Security Paras.
  • Supervises and evaluates teachers, Deans, and Security Paras for professional academic growth.
  • Aids teachers in the gathering and use of classroom data to inform instruction;
  • Aids in the supervision of all staff and assumes the duties of the Principal/Headmaster when he/she is not on the premises.
  • Helps plan for and participate in ILT, and participates in professional development planning.
  • Seeks funding to enhance the cultural and academic programs at the school.
  • Uses data to guide academic goals to assist the Principal/Headmaster in the preparation of Quality School Improvement document.
  • Aids the Principal/Headmaster in planning activities including coordinating curriculum, instruction, student's, volunteers and parent activities, and student support services.
  • Engages the wider community to support school goals.
  • Assumes full responsibility for all areas assigned to him/her and takes initiative and follows all jobs through to completion.
  • Assumes other related duties as requested by the Principal/Headmaster.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience.
  • Evidence of successful leadership experience.
  • Massachusetts license for School Principal/Assistant Principal (grades specific).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
  • Expertise in restorative justice practices; experience with administration of school discipline and attendance policies.
  • Experience with budget preparation and implementation.
  • Advanced technology skills.
  • Expertise with professional development.
