Assistant Head Coach

D1 Training Melbourne is looking for an Assistant Head Coach to help lead our coaching staff and deliver the best training experience in Melbourne.

About the role

You'll work alongside the Head Coach to coach group, team, and personal training sessions, mentor and develop our team of coaches, and ensure every session meets the D1 standard — all while building real relationships with the athletes and families we train. This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity with a clear path to Head Coach and beyond as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coaching and overseeing group, semi-private, team, and personal training sessions
• Help lead, mentor, and develop our team of coaches, ensuring every session meets the D1 standard
• Create a high-energy, motivating environment every session
• Teach and reinforce proper technique, speed, strength, and movement patterns for athletes ages 7 to adult
• Modify exercises to meet each athlete's age, ability, and goals
• Support the Head Coach in quality control, coach audits, and coaching feedback
• Build real relationships with Melbourne families, athletes, and teams
• Start and finish sessions on time, every time
• Reduce injury risk through smart coaching and movement quality
• Step in to lead the coaching staff in the Head Coach's absence
• Represent D1 Training Melbourne with professionalism, enthusiasm, and integrity

Requirements

• AED/CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain quickly)
• At least one NCCA-accredited certification (NSCA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, ISSA, etc.)
• 2+ years coaching experience (group, team, or personal training) preferred
• Prior leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field (preferred, not required)
