About the role
The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of the Manhasset Ralph’s Coffee location. The AGM plays a critical role in the day-to-day execution of store operations, administrative processes, and financial controls, ensuring a consistently high standard of service and operational excellence. This role partners closely with the General Manager to maintain strong store performance, foster a positive team culture. The AGM leads by example, balancing floor presence with strong administrative execution.
Responsibilities
- Supports the General Manager in executing sales and profit plans aligned with budgetary goals.
- Completes and distributes detailed weekly sales recaps to leadership, highlighting performance trends, wins, opportunities, labor metrics, and business drivers.
- Aids the General Manager in monitoring and controlling labor, cost of goods, inventory levels, supplies, and operating expenses.
- Partners with the General Manager to create team schedules based on business needs and forecasted sales.
- Inputs and manages schedules within the payroll system accurately and on time.
- Reviews timecards, ensures payroll accuracy, and partners with the General Manager on labor optimization.
- Places and manages weekly ordering ensuring appropriate pars and minimizing waste.
- Communicates operational updates, maintenance needs, and supply concerns to the General Manager and appropriate partners.
- Exercises independent judgement in the absence of the General Manager, troubleshooting challenges in real time and making sound business decisions aligned with company standards without direct supervision.
- Acts as a service role model, consistently delivering efficient, friendly, and superior customer service.
- Coaches team members in real time and partners with the General Manager to deliver performance improvement actions.
- Proactively resolves customer concerns in a professional and solution-oriented manner.
- Maintains high cleanliness and merchandising standards throughout the store.
- Ensures all company drink recipes and food procedures are followed with consistency and precision.
- Tastes and evaluates beverage and food products regularly to maintain quality standards.
- Supports new product launches and communicates product knowledge effectively to the team.
- Assists in training and onboarding new team members.
- Reinforces operating standards, customer service expectations, and product knowledge.
- Provides constructive coaching and feedback to support performance improvement.
Requirements
Salary range: $51,500 - $74,000 annually, 2+ years of retail, hospitality, or café leadership experience preferred. Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfortable with scheduling and payroll systems. Demonstrated ability to analyze sales reports and identify business trends. Communicates effectively and professionally and problem-solving skills. Prioritize, multi-task, and execute in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and special events as needed.
