Assistant General Manager / Head Chef (Temporary Appointment) Alfred State College

Job Summary

This newly created position is being offered as a temporary appointment while the College evaluates long-term operational needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the position and contributing to the continued success of campus dining services.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house coordination.
• Act as Head Chef for all culinary operations including prep, execution and delivery of meals in coordination with academic culinary program.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, customer service, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to staff and participating culinary students in a supportive learning environment.
• Aid in staff scheduling, training, and team leadership to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor inventory, supplies, and operational needs while supporting cost control efforts.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, including food safety standards.
• Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned, including opening and closing responsibilities.
• Support special events, campus partnerships, and restaurant programming as needed.

Job Requirements
