About the role
As Assistant General Manager, you'll partner closely with the General Manager to lead daily operations, coach and develop team members, and ensure consistent execution across all areas of the business. In the General Manager's absence, you'll take full ownership of the restaurant—overseeing operations, team performance, and guest satisfaction to ensure the restaurant runs efficiently and to brand standards.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Team Development
- Support and coach managers and crew members to perform at their best
- Serve as a role model for hospitality and leadership, ensuring an inclusive and engaging work environment
- Assist in identifying, training, and developing future leaders within the restaurant
- Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and recognition to build a strong, motivated team
- Step into the General Manager's role when needed, ensuring smooth operations
Guest Experience & Community Engagement
- Help drive a guest-first culture, ensuring fast, friendly, and accurate service
- Address and resolve guest concerns with urgency and care, reinforcing a service-driven mindset
- Support community engagement initiatives, helping strengthen the restaurant's local presence
Operational & Financial Execution
- Assist in overseeing restaurant operations, from food production to service quality
- Monitor and analyze business performance, working with the GM to drive profitability
- Help manage labor schedules, inventory, and cost controls to maintain operational efficiency
- Support food safety and cleanliness compliance, ensuring the restaurant meets or exceeds company standards
- Oversee ordering, inventory tracking, and vendor coordination to ensure seamless operations
People Processes & Employee Success
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees to build a strong team
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and training programs to develop staff
- Monitor employee engagement and productivity, recommending promotions or other personnel decisions to the General Manager
- Ensure compliance with legal regulations and McDonald's standards regarding labor, safety, and workplace policies

- Proven leadership experience in restaurant management, hospitality, or a similar role
- A strong coach and mentor who leads by example
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong business acumen with knowledge of labor planning, food costs, and financial metrics
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
