Assistant General Manager
Full-time position located just south of Denver, Colorado, at The Canyons Castle Pines, a master-planned community managed by Shea Homes Colorado.
Pay
$80,000.00 - $85,000 annual

About the Role
The Assistant General Manager works with the General Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the club, reporting directly to the General Manager. This role supports the management of various departments, including food and beverage, events, lifestyle, golf, tennis, pickleball, fitness, arts & crafts, and other recreational services. The Assistant General Manager leads by example, inspires staff, and delivers exceptional homeowner experiences while managing resources efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across departments to ensure alignment with BlueStar standards
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with homeowners, addressing concerns promptly
- Manage, mentor, and motivate department heads and staff, providing guidance on policies and service standards
- Collaborate with event planners, department heads, and vendors to organize and execute events, tournaments, and social gatherings
- Assist in developing, managing, and monitoring department budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility
- Support the General Manager in developing and implementing strategic plans for club growth and homeowner engagement
- Ensure the upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of all facilities, including dining areas and recreational spaces
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to secure contracts and manage supplies
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and internal policies
- Act as a liaison between the General Manager and departments to ensure clear communication and collaboration
- Address operational challenges and homeowner concerns proactively
- Stay informed of industry trends and best practices to enhance member experiences
- Create programs for homeowners, including activities, events, enrichment opportunities, and culinary arts
- Provide strategic intelligence to partners and clients on initiatives such as vision, branding, food & beverage, and operations
- Assist in establishing goals and processes for measuring sales, revenue, and business development
- Support the hiring process and supervise team members
- Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies to positively impact revenues and cost controls
- Review and approve short- and long-term strategies for Food & Beverage operations
- Serve as Manager on Duty in the General Manager’s absence
- Provide specific oversight of Food & Beverage, Clubhouse, Gate, Interior Facilities Maintenance, and Fitness & Wellness Operations
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Graduation from a 4-year accredited college or university (or equivalent combination of work experience and education), preferably with an emphasis in hospitality management
- Previous Assistant General Manager experience or 10+ years of senior club leadership experience
- Three to five years of event planning, budgeting, and supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in the hospitality industry required
- Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) certification (or similar) preferred
- Experience working in a homeowner association is highly regarded
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, PC, and AI technology; Club Management System software a plus
- Ability to develop reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills
- Planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, time management, and supervisory skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement
- Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends, with some travel required
- Valid driver’s license

Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a professional indoor office environment but may include exposure to outdoor weather conditions and native wildlife when on facility grounds or attending outdoor events. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy/fax machines. The noise level is usually moderate.
