Assistant General Counsel
Work location: Texas Health Resources. Core work hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00 a‑m – 5:00 p m; Hybrid work opportunity.
Position Summary
The Assistant General Counsel will provide dedicated legal support to hospitals, service lines, and system initiatives, helping to manage regulatory compliance, operational risk, contracting, medical staff matters, and enterprise projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent and advise in all legal matters for THR hospitals, THPG, or other THR System Services departments.
- Handle a wide range of legal responsibilities as assigned.
- Assist with interpretation and application of State and Federal rules.
- Participate as a member and/or attend various committees and/or meetings.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (required).
- J.D. (required).
- 7 years legal experience (required).
- 5 years legal experience in the specialty area of the position (required).
- Healthcare law experience is strongly preferred.
- Primary focus of work experience should include hospital operations; medical malpractice experience is not relevant.
Licenses and Certifications
- J.D. – Juris Doctor, admitted to the State Bar of Texas within 6 months of hire (required).
Skills
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills.
- Ability to relate to all levels of personnel within THR as well as medical staff members.
