Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for an Assistant General Counsel at our Hillsboro, OR location.
Essential Job Functions
- Act as a legal partner to the Company’s business units, providing legal advice, guidance, and support with a focus on customer contracts, including but not limited to sales and services agreements, purchase orders, construction bids, reseller, and supply agreements.
- Provide guidance on data privacy, protection laws, and artificial intelligence (AI) governance for contracts and agreements in which the Company is a party.
- Leverage Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and AI-powered contract review technology to accelerate turnaround times and improve consistency across legal templates.
- Develop and maintain a contract negotiation playbook, including approved fallback positions, to streamline the sales process.
- Draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts and other agreements as needed.
- Perform legal research and advise business units on legal risks, providing actionable, easily understandable guidance.
- Provide guidance on regulatory compliance requirements, as they relate to supply chain and customer contracts.
- Manage disputes and resolve customer conflicts through negotiation.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, provide advice and counsel to leadership, and ensure regulations are complied with and legal rights are acted upon.
- Manage outside counsel and provide general oversight and organization of their assignments and budget.
- Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree from a fully accredited college in Law approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), admitted and in good standing in Oregon or California; and a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in law; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience with construction contracts and bidding process is preferred.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Admitted to the bar in Oregon or California. Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and satisfactory driving record.
