About the role
The Assistant Legal Counsel will provide legal support across a wide range of issues affecting the organization, including compliance, contracts, and governance.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance on compliance, contracts, and governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address legal risks and support strategic initiatives.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed.
- Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable guidance to stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the not-for-profit sector.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in the United States.
- Experience with legal issues related to non-profit organizations is helpful but not essential.
- Strong skills in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Ability to provide clear legal advice to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in conducting legal research and applying relevant laws and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
