Omnicom seeks a talented, business-oriented attorney to join its legal team in New York. The position requires knowledge of advertising and marketing, media planning and buying, creative production including talent matters, sports/event marketing and/or social media. Familiarity with the rapidly developing laws and regulations governing digital media is required. The attorney hired for this position will interact primarily with business and creative teams within Omnicom agencies and their clients. Close collaboration with Omnicom’s corporate legal team and outside counsel also is expected.
This role will be based in our New York office and requires regular in-office presence five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including client service, technology license, supplier/media owner, technology and data, influencer, custom content, sponsorship, sweepstakes and promotions, talent, confidentiality, intellectual property and/or music/content licenses.
- Standardize templates, processes and legal guidance where possible, to improve efficiency of legal services to business units.
- Provide legal advice on an ongoing basis concerning marketing in traditional, new media and with AI by addressing issues such as: advertising law, claim substantiation, trademark clearance, copyrights, sweepstakes, promotions, rights of privacy and publicity, user generated content, social and mobile media.
- Educate, advise, and counsel management on legal issues affecting business decisions.
- Provide periodic training to business units on key legal issues impacting operations.
- Manage and coordinate communications with internal and external clients.
- Occasional travel may be required, primarily in the US.
Requirements
- JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Must be in good standing with New York State Bar Association.
- Strong business acumen.
- Experience working with and providing legal advice directly to clients.
- Experience with emerging technologies is required; familiarity with global business practices is a plus.
- Must have experience working and succeeding in a fast-paced, fluid, high-performing and open corporate or law firm culture, preferably in an advertising agency, advertising/marketing compliance department of a company, or law firm dedicated to servicing such business.

Pay
US Salary Range $190,000 - $250,000 USD. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
Schedule
Omnicom attorneys are expected to work in the office 5 days per week.
