Key Responsibilities
- Handles eviction and small claims litigation
- Represents CMHA in state, federal, and administrative proceedings
- Advises leadership and staff on contracts, development, labor and personnel matters, and liability issues
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws and HUD regulations
- Conducts legal research and prepares legal documents
- Supports real property transactions and coordinates with outside counsel
- Maintains and monitors Agency contracts
- Contributes to lease enforcement and eviction-reduction initiatives
- Develops and delivers legal and compliance training
- Performs other assigned duties
Qualifications
- Holds a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Ohio
- At least two years of litigation experience
- Strong knowledge of public housing laws and regulations
- Proven litigation and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- The capacity to analyze complex legal issues and deliver practical solutions
- Strong organizational skills
- Sound judgment and attention to detail
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure
- A collaborative, ethical approach to dispute resolution
