Central State Hospital (CSH) is seeking an Assistant Financial Services Director to join our team. CSH is a 277-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia, and will transition to a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital opening in spring/summer 2027. CSH has served citizens of the Commonwealth since 1870 as the first psychiatric hospital in the country dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. The hospital maintains the only maximum-security treatment facility in the state (111 beds) alongside 166 beds for individuals in the community who need inpatient care and individuals in the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets, projections, and financial management plans
• Work with automated accounting systems
• Establish and ensure compliance with policies and procedures as they relate to finance
• Manage regulatory audits as they relate to finance
• Perform multiple tasks simultaneously while communicating effectively with others both orally and in writing

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of state program budgeting
• General knowledge of state policies and procedures
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications
• Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills

Experience requirements

• Extensive experience in budget development, projections, and management
• Experience in automated accounting systems
• Extensive computer skills including Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel
• Experience with understanding and establishing policies and procedures and compliance with regulatory policies as they relate to finance
• Experience with regulatory audits as it relates to finance
