About the role
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper (AEH) is a second-level manager who plays a key role in the management of site housekeeping operations, helping to meet quality standards and timeliness goals through directing team members. The AEH is fully responsible for all site operations in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper (EH). This position assists the EH in meeting site budget and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and associates. They ensure team members adhere to established standards and site assets are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Create and post schedules by 5:00 PM every Thursday; assign daily tasks to housekeepers, housepersons, and supervisors.
- Adjust work assignments based on needs, callouts, or other operational requirements.
- Monitor daily work hours to ensure compliance with budgeted hours.
- Follow directives of the site leader in their absence.
- Exemplify a sense of urgency to ensure all units are turned on time.
- Inspect rooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
- Retrieve housekeepers to address any areas that need re-cleaning.
- Conduct weekly report cards for housekeeping staff and MSI reports for supervisors.
- Contribute to establishing a welcoming culture of engagement and inclusion.
- Provide timely responses to associate concerns by addressing them directly or referring them to others who can assist.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback to housekeepers, housemen, and supervisors.
- Consistently enforce established policies and procedures.
- Coach housekeepers to reach productivity standards.
- Assist in performance management, including coaching, counseling, and recommending discipline or termination when necessary.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Set recurring schedules for MasterTalk and STS in accordance with established SOPs; facilitate sessions engaging with staff at all levels.
- Conduct weekly training meetings with supervisors and monthly meetings with all staff.
- Finalize the day in the MasterMind system.
- Interview, select, and onboard new team members.
- Perform new hire orientations and ensure 7-Steps to Clean training is delivered within established guidelines.
- Build positive rapport with the resort management team and attend resort meetings.
- Manage inventory, conduct weekly inventory counts, and order replenishments.
- Report unit maintenance issues.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance logs.
- Assist in solving guest complaints promptly.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure staff follows day-to-day safety rules and procedures.
- Handle workers' compensation issues and reporting.
- Work irregular hours.
- Comply with Resort Operations 15 Non-negotiables without fail.
- Use MasterMind Mobile to update room status for all housekeepers and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Two years of experience directly related to the job with progressive responsibility and a proven track record of driving strong performance and key field operations metrics.
- Effective written and verbal English communication skills; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Rare travel (on average 5% quarterly).
- A valid driver's license may be required for certain locations.
