About the role
3rd Assistant Engineer aboard US-flagged self-unloading vessels operating on the Great Lakes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of propulsion, auxiliary, and mechanical systems
- Perform routine inspections
- Support preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting
- Maintain engineering logs and inventories
- Ensure cleanliness and safety standards
- Participate in emergency drills
- Assist with drydock projects, equipment overhauls, and regulatory inspections
- Follow safety policies and environmental regulations to support safe vessel operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid US Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) as 3rd Assistant Engineer
- TWIC Card
- US Passport or Enhanced Driver's License
- Legal work authorization in the US
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills
- Alignment with core values such as safety, integrity, and customer service
- Prior marine experience preferred
