About the role

The Assistant Early Childhood Teacher position is a year-round key role at the Early Education Center. Assistant Early Childhood Teachers support the lead teacher in educating, supervising, and caring for children. The curriculum philosophy emphasizes play-based learning, supported by a thematic, web-design lesson planning process that aligns with the developmental domains and objectives of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, pleasant environment and attentive childcare with an emphasis on children's emotional, physical, and social needs.
  • Assist the lead teacher in managing children in a classroom setting.
  • Maintain safety and supervision of all children.
  • Ensure compliance with all EEC, Winter Park Resort, and Colorado Office of Early Childhood policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily childcare duties as directed by the lead teacher and directors, including feeding, changing diapers, and addressing all basic needs of the children.
  • Cooperate with the lead teacher to formulate and implement daily, weekly, and monthly educational activities for toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Assist in keeping accurate attendance records for each child.
  • Maintain the EEC in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Maintain professional communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications

An Assistant Early Childhood Teacher must meet one (1) of the following qualifications:

  • Completion of one (1) Early Childhood Education course.
  • A minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than eight (8) years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Must be enrolled in or have attended Early Childhood Education courses.

Skills

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 30 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in communication with children, co-teachers, directors, and parents.
  • Routine cleaning of surfaces and toys, including loading dishwashers and washers, mopping floors, and sanitizing with hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to work for extended periods standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.

Pay

The base hourly pay range is $22 - $24.95, depending on experience.

Schedule

This is a year-round position.

Working Conditions
