About the role
The Assistant Lead Dispatcher supports the day-to-day operations of the dispatch team by coordinating efficient driver routing, ensuring on-time delivery, and assisting with resolving delivery-related issues. This role helps drive customer satisfaction and operational efficiency while supporting the Lead Dispatcher in supervising dispatch personnel and maintaining compliance with transportation policies.
Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, organizing, and overseeing daily driver dispatch operations
- Maintain and adjust driver schedules to optimize efficiency and on-time delivery
- Communicate with drivers, warehouse teams, and sales staff to ensure timely order fulfillment and issue resolution
- Support driver training and compliance with company policies and DOT regulations
- Track and report on route performance, delays, and exceptions
- Provide coverage and decision-making support in the Dispatch Manager's absence
- Collaborate with Logistics and Operations teams to maintain accurate and efficient transfer routing between branches
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed
- Proficiency with dispatch or routing software and Microsoft Office applications
- Active CDL and active DOT medical card (required to perform relief driver responsibilities)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or a related field
- Previous experience in the automotive aftermarket industry
- Familiarity with DOT compliance and fleet management practices

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Sit or stand for long periods
- Work in an office and warehouse setting
