Assistant Director, Student Success and Retention
About the role
The Assistant Director provides leadership for student learning assistance programming and targeted interventions that promote student success, retention, and completion at CCBC. Reporting to the Director of Student Retention and Transition Services, the Assistant Director manages tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and related support services while supervising a professional staff team. This position collaborates with faculty and campus partners to align services with student needs and advance institutional student success goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning and allocation of resources to effectively staff and accomplish the department's productivity goals, including planning and evaluating to improve the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output for all stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with the director to develop new programs, initiatives, and strategies consistent with the College's mission.
- Document all policies and procedures, assess data, and strengthen operational practices to ensure business operations are meeting student needs.
- Serve as liaison between college departments, vendors, government agencies and/or other external organizations.
- Serve on established departmental committees and/or ad hoc committees, task forces or other bodies pertinent to student success.
- Manage operating budget for assigned division or function, as required.
- Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours.
Requirements
- Master’s degree required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in supporting student learning and success initiatives with the proven ability in program development, assessment, and continuous improvement and a strong understanding of best practices in student retention and learning in higher education, including a minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience, required.
Qualifications

Skills

Pay
Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.
