About the role
The Assistant Director of Recreational Esports is responsible for the overall management of esports campus facility, programs, special events and supervision of personnel. This position has personnel management responsibilities that include the training, development, and supervision of student staff members. The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Esports.
Responsibilities
Direct, supervise, and evaluate recreational programming including but not limited to open gaming, special events, leagues and tournaments. Establish and maintain operating schedule for esports facilities. Collaborate with other departments and student clubs and organizations to help facilitate academic use and club use of esports spaces, including advising of esports club.
Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of professional staff members. Indirectly supervise and hire student staff. Directly oversee budgeting of student staff. Develop, implement and evaluate operating policies and procedures for Barnes and Schine esports rooms. Establish and enforce code of conduct for esports participants. Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and compliance with applicable State and County regulations. Purchase and maintain esports equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, computer science or other relevant field required, master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated esports management experience including strategic planning, budget management, equipment purchasing and maintenance and risk management. Demonstrated success in training and supervision of multiple part time staff utilizing best practices for customer service. Demonstrated pursuit of personal professional development through participation in a national industry association or organization. Relevant experience with recreational esports, gaming, and/or campus recreation. Variable work schedule. Evening and weekend work required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, ability to use sound management principles, and work effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse constituencies.
