Position Purpose

The Assistant Director of University Events supports learning by assisting the University Events department in the coordination of campus events. With the mission, vision, and core values of Aurora University central to the work, this position is an integral part of the University Events team and is a key member in helping achieve the university’s success.

Essential Job Functions

  • Aid the University Events leadership in planning, supporting, and executing presidential and other high-level campus events.
  • Provide on-site support during key events.
  • Manage event registrations for Arts and Ideas and other special events.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors and other university departments.
  • Utilize the university’s centralized 25LivePro reservation system and the Smart Draw event diagram program.
  • Aid the University Events team with continuous process improvement for event management.

Education Essential Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of three to five years of event coordination experience, preferably in higher education.

Skills

  • Ability to work some evenings, holidays and weekends for university-sanctioned events.
  • Strong enthusiasm, motivation, and drive.
  • Prior event registration management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and management skills to prioritize simultaneous events/projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents.
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of the University Events team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods.
  • Ability to stand for periods.
  • Ability to move about campus.
  • Ability to use computer, telephone, email and office equipment.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range

The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
