About the role

The Assistant Director of Student Aid provides professional counseling services to students and parents on a continuous basis; has specific managerial responsibility for graduate programs and other assigned student aid programs (loans, TAP, Pell, etc.). Works very closely with other offices throughout the University. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely and possibly keep hours other than the published office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional student aid counseling to students and families via phone, voicemail, email, text, in-person, and other emerging platforms.
  • Manage counseling for graduate students and help shape the service provided to them by the Office of Student Finance.
  • Work with exclusively online programs and understand the nuances of the online student population.
  • Assist the Associate Director with creating, managing, and editing Student Aid online and print materials.
  • Participate in financial aid related presentations, including orientation sessions for graduate programs both in-person and online, and open houses.
  • Track, manage, and process: all federal c-flags, federal verifications, budget adjustments, consortium agreements, FERPA release forms, 3rd Party and external grant forms.
  • Assist the Director with financial aid packaging and fund allocations, including federal student loans, institutional scholarships, grants, loans, and award letter generation.
  • Run reports, process loans, and track loan proceeds received.
  • Work closely with the Student Accounts staff to resolve student inquiries regarding loan disbursements.
  • Collaborate with Registrar and Admission staff on a daily basis as needed.
  • Work at other campuses in NYC as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years of related experience required.
  • Thorough and working knowledge of Title IV financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Comfortable working with various computer software programs and platforms within the University and externally, which may include Banner, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, COD, NSLDS, and other 3rd-party websites.

Pay

Salary range: $66,300 - $67,000.
