Job Overview

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director of Patient Care for their Post Intensive Care Unit I at the New Brunswick campus. Post Intensive Care I is a 34-bed cardiac unit with telemetry, medical surgical, and intermediate care patients. RWJ University Hospital, the primary teaching hospital of the RWJBarnabas Health system, is one of three Level 1 trauma centers in the state of NJ. This academic medical center is renowned for outstanding clinical quality and has received the Magnet designation six times, reinforcing the culture of nursing excellence.

Qualifications

• BSN required
• At least 2-3 years leadership/charge/preceptor experience as a Registered Nurse
• Preferred MSN or must be enrolled in MSN program nearing completion
• BSN exception if the candidate meets other requirements and is actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree; the completion of the degree is expected within 5 years of acceptance of the position
• National Board Certification
• Certifications and Licenses Required: BLS and ACLS Certification, Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Essential Functions

• Development/Management of Personnel
• Interviewing and hiring unlicensed personnel
• Interviewing and hiring licensed personnel in collaboration with Nursing Director
• Facilitating the orientation process for new employees
• Contributing to the professional growth and development of staff
• Evaluating the staff performance
• Counseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary action
• Planning/coordinating unit based education programs
