Assistant Director of Nursing RN/LPN

About the role

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing for RidgeView and MeadowView ensures all aspects of health care services.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe physician orders
• Administer medications and treatments
• Assess and evaluate emergency situations
• Build constructive relationships with residents, families, and staff to create an environment supportive to optimal resident function, motivating for staff satisfaction and creativity, and encouraging family and staff partnerships for care of residents
• Support residents and their families during move-in and adjustment phases
• Demonstrate effective supervisory skills by recruiting, hiring, orienting, scheduling, teaching, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff
• Maintain nursing policies and procedures, resident charts, and staff training documentation
• Communicate with family regarding resident’s condition and needs
• Be self-motivated to accomplish assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision and lead team members towards accomplishing common goals
• Be available for special events, projects, and other team efforts

Qualifications

• Current license as RN in the State of Iowa
• Genuine interest in geriatric nursing
• Previous experience in assisted living community nursing management or experience in a long term care setting
• Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and/or dementia (preferred)
• Minimum of three years supervisory experience in nursing required with effective delegation skills and follow up
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of aging
• Well organized
• PC proficient
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
