Assistant Director of Nursing

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in managing the daily operations of the nursing department.
  • Collaborate with the DON to oversee all nursing staff and performance management.
  • Maintain quality standards through direct clinical oversight and audits.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and care standards.
  • Conduct QAPI activities and work with the Scheduling Manager to ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and interdisciplinary team conferences.
  • Serve as acting DON in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Provide direct clinical support during emergencies, high-acuity situations, and staff shortages.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on excellence in resident care.
  • Lead by example in creating a learning environment that emphasizes professional development, teamwork, communication, and a shared commitment to quality.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the State of New Mexico, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or a rehabilitation setting.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory nursing role is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing home regulations and long-term care standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR) and basic computer applications.

Preferred Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
