Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) RN

About the role

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)/Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) position supports the nursing team and ensures high‑quality patient service when the Director of Nursing is absent. The ADON supervises, analyzes, delegates, and evaluates nursing activities, while the SDC provides leadership in selecting and delivering effective training programs, communicating clearly, and facilitating skill development for staff.

Responsibilities

• Helping to hire, train, teach, and monitor nurses
• Managing clinical operations and developing care plans
• Assisting in budget preparation and expense management
• Conducting patient rounds and addressing complaints
• Training and educating staff

Requirements / Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered, active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent supervisory experience in a nursing care facility
• Infection Preventionist certificate preferred
• Ability to assist in organizing, developing, and directing Nursing Service Department operations in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
• Education: Entry‑level (0‑2 years) experience as an RN/LPN
