Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Primary Responsibilities

• Setting resident care standards for all direct care providers
• Providing complete supervision/management for the nursing department
• Supporting the DON in planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the overall operation of Nursing Services
• Leading the staff development function
• Assisting with the staffing assignments

Essential Functions

• Define and implement objectives, policies and standards for the nursing care of the residents
• Assist the DON with day-to-day execution and supervision of resident care procedures
• Taking corrective action as necessary
• Establishing care plans for each resident, assessing needs and goals
• Conducting or participating in resident care conferences and providing follow-up on consultant recommendations
• Reviewing nurses' notes to ensure the care plan is being followed and that nursing completes all necessary reports, charting and assessments as required
• Participating in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess a valid RN license
• Thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices
• Administrative, managerial and interpersonal skills
• Judgment in prioritizing tasks and responsibilities
• Discretion and protection of confidential information
• Compliance with Corporate Compliance and HIPPA
