Duties Description
Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply to function as the Assistant Director of the Outpatient Nursing Department facility-wide. Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures.
Overseeing, evaluating, and participating in recruitment, training, and continuing education programs for nursing and direct care staff.
Supervising Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric and other nursing and direct care staff.
Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Licenses and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
3 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities, or individuals in a medical-surgical or long-term care setting. 1 year of this experience must have been at a supervisory level.
A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
A doctorate in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
OR Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments: Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C M-1 ($93,659), an Increase Hiring Rate ($16,688), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000) and Location pay ($4,000).
The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($118,388), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000) and location pay ($4,000).
