Position Summary
The Assistant Director “ADON” is responsible for upholding the standards of care established by regulatory and accrediting bodies. The ADON assists with oversight and direction to all direct care nursing staff, ensuring the unit is staffed safely and according to protocol. They provide assistance with decision-making, clinical judgment issues, and medical staff communication. The ADON also provides direct patient care when needed, assumes nursing administrator on-call duties, and participates in the QAPI process.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the unit is staffed safely and according to protocol
- Provide assistance with decision-making, clinical judgment issues, and medical staff communication
- Assist with direct oversight to the nursing staff
- Participate in the QAPI process with monitoring, tracking, and analyzing nursing data
- Ensure the development of the nursing schedule in a timely manner
- Coordinate the performance of nursing care to patients within the scope of practice and in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards
- Collaborate with DON and Human Resources on hiring and termination of employees in the nursing department
- Complete performance evaluations for nursing staff as scheduled
- Facilitate admissions into the facility in a timely manner
- Maintain knowledge of admission criteria and accurately document admission criteria for new admissions
- Participate in the Utilization and Treatment Team to communicate patient goals, interventions, and assessments
- Afford support to all administrative, nursing, and direct care staff in formulating policies, procedures, forms, and processes that affect the nursing department and patient care
- Afford support to ensure survey readiness through regulatory compliance and quality standards of care
- Afford support on facilities’ projects and program development to oversee the safe, accurate, development, and implementation of patient care
- Participate as a member of the leadership team within the facility
Requirements
- Registered Nurse for at least 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care past working experience
- MSN oversight
- RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
