Pier Sixty-Six Resort, South Florida’s beacon of hospitality, has returned to Fort Lauderdale with an opening date of October 2024. This lush 32-acre waterfront enclave features 325 guest rooms, suites, and villas, plus 91 Private Resort Residences, 12 restaurants and lounges, a luxurious spa, curated pool options, and a waterfront promenade with retail and dining. The resort is dedicated to providing exceptional service and refined experiences, supported by over 600 diverse and talented team members.

We are seeking a well-rounded and seasoned Assistant Director of Housekeeping to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, you will supervise, train, and inspect the performance of housekeeping staff to ensure adherence to Pier Sixty-Six, AAA, and Forbes Travel Guide standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the housekeeping team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement cleaning protocols and standards to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and presentation in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Create and manage housekeeping schedules to meet guest occupancy and event demands.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Regularly inspect public areas, restrooms, restaurants, spa, pool area, offices, guest rooms, corridors, and service areas using designated checklists.
  • Directly contact team members to relay and correct any deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as front office and engineering, to address guest requests and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Implement and enforce safety and security measures, including training on proper chemical and equipment handling.
  • Monitor and report on housekeeping department performance, including guest feedback, cleanliness scores, and cost control measures.
  • Develop and manage the department’s annual budget, forecasting expenses and revenue projections.
  • Continuously enhance guest experiences by introducing new amenities, services, or technologies aligned with the resort’s luxury brand.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all resort and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Facilitate projects in an organized and timely manner.
  • Anticipate and respond promptly to internal and external guest needs, maintaining positive relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Maintain awareness of room counts, group arrivals, VIPs, special events, and team member responsibilities.
  • Communicate changes to assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Inspect equipment used by team members for proper supplies, cleanliness, and mechanical issues.
  • Attend all meetings and drive initiatives as a department head to improve the organization.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Department Head.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a luxury resort or hotel.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and equipment use.
  • High school graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to compute mathematical calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Understanding of guest service needs and ability to work cohesively in a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to ascertain training needs and provide such training.
  • Ability to direct team member performance and follow up with corrections.
