Essential Job Functions

  • Determine student eligibility for financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial aid.
  • Analyze and monitor aid data and financial documents to verify eligibility.
  • Manage counseling and awarding caseload.
  • Counsel students and parents about the financial aid process; eligibility, verification, awards, costs, debt management, and financial literacy.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and faculty members to execute and improve financial aid services for students and the campus community.
  • Prepare and give presentations regarding financial aid for campus and high school groups.
  • Represent the University in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, as is professional experience working in college financial aid or another closely related field.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and insurability under Denison’s liability insurance policy are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of federal financial aid programs and the financial aid process, including the FAFSA, student eligibility, verification, and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Ability to effectively present and respond to questions and requests from managers, colleagues, students, families, and the public as a financial aid representative.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology fluently for the administration and reporting of financial aid.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills; outstanding listener with strong relational skills.
  • Innovative problem solver with the ability to work across teams positively and effectively to foster shared responsibility and accountability with a demonstrated history of building strong, positive relationships.
  • Integrity and excellent judgment; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially, yet independently, with internal and external constituencies.
  • Exceptional work ethic with excellent organizational prioritization and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with highest standards for accuracy.
  • Ability to infuse daily work with levity and balance, and able to achieve and celebrate success.
  • Clear appreciation for and understanding of the value of higher education.
  • Ability and commitment to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

Salary

$60,000 - $65,000
