Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Advises, counsels, and educates students, prospective students, and their family members in respects to their financial aid eligibility.
- Understands Admissions and Bursar Office processes to effectively communicate to prospective and admitted students.
- Oversees the planning and event setup involving Financial Aid to include, but not limited to, Orientation, Visitation, and Accepted Student Days.
- Reviews and updates C-flags such as but not limited to: Veteran Status, NSLDS SSN without a match, and federal aid overpayment.
- Collaborates with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure staffing and resources are available for events and distribution to visitors.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, and requirements.
- Coordinates with Athletics for upload/sharing of relevant Financial Aid data into their systems such as ARMS CRM and Compliance Assistant.
- Works with Director of FA to ensure compliance with NCAA Bylaw 15.
- Manages budgets to ensure athletic teams are not exceeding the team scholarship budget.
- Manages the athletics financial aid webpage to keep it up to date.
- Holds events on campus to work with student athletes to assist them with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Leads coordination efforts to proactively engage with current and prospective students in person or via email, text, and social media.
- Trains colleagues in various duties.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Two years in higher education desired.
- At least one year of direct experience in Financial Aid.
- Current working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague preferred.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, such as web/text/chat platforms.
- Ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
- Proficiency utilizing/administering social media platforms.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, parents, university officials and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exercise good judgment in complex and new situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment.
- Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
