ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
About the role
Perform complex professional and difficult administrative work directing the activities of the Finance component of TAP.
Organizes and coordinates with TAP Directors and Managers to assist in the preparation and administration of TAP's budget and advises other TAP officials regarding the same.
Coordinates with other components to develop implementation of financial systems and assists in the preparation of annual fiscal statements.
Assists in the planning and implementation of new or recommended changes in the fiscal control and data processing systems and assists in updating the financial procedures manual as required.
Works closely with other organizations rendering technical assistance and promoting agency goals.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the submission of reports and timely drawdowns of accounts receivable.
- Aid in the establishment and maintenance of the financial and accounting systems of TAP.
- Aid in the preparation of RFPs for matters such as independent auditors, pension and health care administration.
- Aid the independent auditors with the review of TAP financial records.
- Aid in maintaining liability insurance to cover all risks.
- Aid in the preparation of other reports of the fiscal condition of TAP.
- Assist in the preparation of annual fiscal statements.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of new or recommended changes in the fiscal control and data processing systems.
- Aid in updating the financial procedures manual as required.
- Work closely with other organizations rendering technical assistance and promoting agency goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance.
- Extensive experience in finance and administration, budgeting, insurance policies, benefit programs, federal funding practices and regulations, purchasing and property management.
Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Operators license and reliable transportation.
- TAP participates in the Virginia DMV Driver Alert Program.
- Must be able to travel as required.
- Must pass drug screening.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of fiscal controls, laws and regulations governing receipt, custody and expenditure of federal money under agency contracts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices.
- Ability to evaluate financial systems and efficiently formulate and install accounting methods, procedures, forms and records.
- Ability to prepare informative financial records.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate work of subordinate employees.
- Ability to formulate long-range planning.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Benefits
Salary range: $78,000 - $96,000 annually.
