About the role

The Assistant Director of Finance plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department at The Eliza Jane, a luxury hotel in New Orleans. This position requires a blend of expertise in accounting, financial management, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries and support timely financial close across assigned properties
  • Conduct monthly financial statement reviews in partnership with the Area Director of Finance
  • Affiliate in preparation of financial and operational reporting
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking to drive informed business decisions
  • Partner with operational and finance teams to improve processes, performance, and efficiency
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in hospitality
  • Luxury, Lifestyle, Boutique hotel experience, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and internal controls
  • Experience leading or supporting multiple locations or complex business units preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
  • Experience with hotel systems such as Opera, Micros, BirchStreet, or similar platforms
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience with hotel systems such as Opera, Micros, BirchStreet, or similar platforms
