About the role

This position oversees the hotel's general ledger operations and supports the Director of Finance. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing journal vouchers, month-end reports and reconciliations, participating in financial reviews, assisting with hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management, and ensuring SOX compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review all journal vouchers, month-end reports and reconciliations
  • Review preliminary financial statements with Director of Finance
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews and assist DoF with the presentation of these reports
  • Aid in supervising the Finance staff, the Purchasing/Storeroom team, and the Information Technology functions of the hotel
  • Manage and oversee hotel on-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis for the hotel
  • Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance
  • Absorb and respond to auditor requests to ensure total hotel compliance
  • Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements
  • Investigate, review, and analyze variance explanations, involving the department staff in this process
  • Take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement
  • Assist Controller with special reporting and analysis projects

Requirements

  • 2 years or more of finance management career progression; preferred experience in hospitality, retail, or related industry
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business or related field preferred
  • Experience supervising/directing staff members
  • Prior POS (Simphony, Infrasys), PMS (Opera), Oracle, ADP/Enterprise, Kronos/Dimensions, expertise desired
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:
