About the role

The ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCE position is available for a 242-day contract with 24 vacation days per year. The salary range is $114,561 - $175,534, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions

  • Affords assistance to the Director of Finance in supervising the finance and payroll teams to provide services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
  • Prepares federal, state, and local financial reports to ensure compliance with legal, financial, and district requirements.
  • Tracks categorical program funds to ensure program operations are within the budget and in accordance with fiscal practices.
  • Assists in year-end closing, retirement, and Social Security programs to ensure compliance with legal, financial, and District requirements.
  • Verifies teacher assignments and codes expenses to ensure allocations are accurate and fiscal practices are followed.
  • Prepares reports and related documents such as audit reports, year-end state reports, annual comprehensive financial report, secondary schools quarterly sales tax return, etc., to document audit activities and findings and maintain compliance with state reporting requirements.
  • Provides financial accounting and budget support for schools and department programs to provide information and general support.
  • Works closely with the Business Administrator and the Business team Directors to ensure financial goals and objectives are achieved to maintain services and programs.

Other Functions

  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a job-related area is required.
  • A Master's degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • A CPA certification is optional.
